Amish Farmers, Alpacas – and More!
Wednesday May 18
CARPOOL from Hutchinson Center parking lot
8:30 am 3:30 pm (approx.)
First stop is the Amish Community Store, and a chance to buy homemade donuts and other freshlymade goodies. Possible visit the nearby Charcuterie. Then a visit with an Amish elder and family at his farm, to hear about his farming practices and his windmill business.
NOTE that the Amish request NO pictures of people (buildings are fine).

The afternoon will provide a visit to the Northern Solstice Alpaca Farm in
Thorndike, where we’ll get “up close and personal” with some furry critters, and get
a chance to buy some alpaca products as well. Then on to the McKay Farm and
Research Center (formerly Half Moon Gardens), now connected to Unity College, to
hear about their new experiments in plant science, and maybe pick up some
seedlings for our own garden.

LUNCH is a picnic box lunch from Bell the Cat – included in the fee. Includes chips, bottle of water and fruit.
There will be some walking on uneven ground, but there is no lengthy hiking planned. We will be on rough ground and farmlands, so dress accordingly.
Space is limited preregistration required by end of the day Thursday, May 12
Fee is $20 allinclusive (covers lunch and fee at alpaca farm).
