Introduction to the basics of French, for those with little, distant, or no experience in the language. Pronunciation spelling peculiarities, grammar, and usage. Patterning dialogues, in everyday conversation and building of simple storytelling. The four foundations of listening, speaking, reading, and writing will all be addressed. There will be some video use. Use of outside online French language sites is encouraged to expand exposure to the language.

Elisabeth has taught French for over 50 years, in a variety of settings: Berlitz School in Montreal, Penobscot language School in Rockland, Maine, University of Maine Augusta, both traditional and ITV courses, Riley School in Rockport, and Appleton Village School. She has been a facilitator and teacher in the Weekend French Immersions of Penobscot School, and now UMA, “Français dans le bois” and “Français au bord de la mer”since 1991. Elisabeth has a BA from Wells College, a CPLF and DEF from the Sorbonne, and an MA in French from the University of Maine Orono. She has lived in France and Montreal, and her accent is International French. ( “Parisian French” is neither a standard nor a goal!)
