This course will explore several definitions of health and well-being while probing the social determinants of health and the performance of the U.S. system. The contributions of public health programs and health system reform will be examined, including the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) and proposals such as Medicare for All.

Bob Kohl spent 40+ years working in public health settings, including working with federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) and public hospital systems. When leading an inner city FQHC, he practiced community-oriented primary care, which focused on engaging the community in preventive programs aimed at the root causes of health issues.
