      <title>Oral Health for Seniors (Fri, April 24, 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;This talk, hosted by dental student Ryelyn Brown, will focus on oral care for older adults, including (but not limited to) dry mouth and medication-related effects, implants, denture care, diet&amp;nbsp;and general tips for maintaining a healthy smile as we age.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This will be a relaxed and interactive session with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and bring up other topics of interest.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;FREE and open to all, but registration is required. Limited to 20 people due to space.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Ryelyn Brown is a dental student at University of New England College of Dental Medicine. She is completing an externship in the Waldo County area this spring, and offered to host this event with Belfast Senior College as a community outreach program.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

      <title>Family Harbor House: Brown Bag Lunch Presentation (Wed, April 29, 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p style="line-height: 26px;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 17px;"&gt;&lt;img src="https://belfastseniorcollege.org/resources/Page%20Content/Classes%20and%20Events/2026%20Spring/belfast%20united%20methodist%20church.jpg" alt="" title="" border="0" width="300" height="188" align="right" style="margin: 0px 0px 20px 20px;"&gt;We invite everyone to join us for a brown bag lunch presentation about Family Harbor House on &lt;strong&gt;Wednesday, April 29&lt;/strong&gt; from &lt;strong&gt;11:45 AM - 12:45 PM&lt;/strong&gt; at &lt;strong&gt;United Methodist Church.&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;span&gt;Bring your lunch if you like; the talk is&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;FREE and open to all. (Pre-registration is appreciated, but not required.)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="line-height: 26px;"&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 17px;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;a href="https://midcoast-maine-homeless-coalition.org/" target="_blank"&gt;Midcoast Maine Homeless Coalition&lt;/a&gt; (MMHC)&lt;/strong&gt; opened Family&amp;nbsp;Harbor House on January 3rd of this year. MMHC is a 501 (C) that created Family Harbor House (FHH), a transitional housing&amp;nbsp;facility, to provide housing, nutrition and support for 3 to 4&amp;nbsp;families at a time.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="line-height: 26px;"&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 17px;"&gt;FHH utilizes a part-time director,&amp;nbsp;volunteers, and community partners to support the individual&amp;nbsp;needs of each family. Volunteers are on site 24 hours a day and&amp;nbsp;7 days a week. MMHC coordinates with many local organizations to&amp;nbsp;provide case management services. The program is housed at&amp;nbsp;the United Methodist Church. Each family has their own private s&lt;span style=""&gt;leeping room and there are shared bathrooms, a common&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;kitchen, a common dining room and an office at the site.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="line-height: 26px;"&gt;Midcoast Maine Homeless Coalition's mission is working to end the cycle of homelessness for individual families in Waldo County Maine through innovation and collaboration around affordable housing. MMHC provides transitional housing for families who are unhoused or&amp;nbsp;at risk of becoming homeless and provides services with the goal of&amp;nbsp;families moving into stable housing situations. MMHC also provides&amp;nbsp;some financial support for families in Waldo County to help them&amp;nbsp;maintain stable housing.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="line-height: 26px;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Presenter:&amp;nbsp;David Beseda, Director at Family Harbor House&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="line-height: 26px;"&gt;David has a Masters of Social Work and he has an extensive background working in the area of low income housing. He was the founding Executive Director of Community Housing of Maine. David was also a member of the leadership staff at Preble Street and York County Shelter Programs supporting families experiencing&amp;nbsp;homelessness. He has been a Guardian Ad Litem and an Adjunct Faculty&amp;nbsp;at Southern Maine Community College and the University of New England.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
