In this class, we will enjoy an introduction to poetry's varied voices by taking seven, short poetic adventures in the broader world of poetry. These will contain an outcry of grief, a remarkable description, a chilling insight, a musical exuberance, an eloquent doubt, an intense anguish, and a sense of senselessness. In each of the subsequent five sessions, readings will be given by two poets chosen for variety in their voices. Following their readings, we will ask members of the class what emotions they have felt and what voices they have heard in the readers' poetry.
