From time to time we offer community events. These gatherings are open to all in the community and are often free of charge.

Due to high demand, Belfast Senior College is hosting its third tour of the new GO Logic carpentry shop in Belfast. Find out more about this Belfast company that will build 20 homes in 2024 and 25 more in 2025 with Alan Gibson, co-founder (and the “G” in GO Logic) as he takes our Senior College group on a tour of the carpentry facility and presents a slide show to describe the process.
Come join the tour of the new GO Logic carpentry shop in Belfast on Tuesday, December 17 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at 52 Little River Drive.
REGISTRATION OPENS FOR THIS EVENT ON DECEMBER 1st and we have invited those from the previous event's wait list to attend. Mark your calendar - it will fill up fast.
Based on a Swedish construction model of off-site building roof, floor and wall panels with triple-glazed windows from Germany in place, GO Logic can erect a home in less time than is typically needed. Clients can work with GO Logic’s design team to draw plans for homes or cottages from 600 square feet to 2,300 square feet. Using state-of-the art computer programing, saws in the shop cut wood to dimensions noted on the design plans in the climate-controlled shop and then, GO Logic building crews attach the panels when they are delivered to the house site. Cranes lift and set the panels in place to assemble the super-insulated air-sealed building shell on the insulated slab.
Previous tour participant Doug Chamberlin said, "It was fascinating to get such a close view of their working shop and to chat with Alan Gibson, the CEO, who answered all questions in a straightforward way. I felt lucky to have such access to this company leading the country in new building methods." Another participant, Phil Jacks, said, “Alan is an innovator in sustainable design. I especially enjoyed hearing his ideas about the economic viability of the passive solar home.”
Group size is limited to twenty for this event that is free and open to the public as well as to Senior College members.
Registration will open on Sunday, December 1st.
