Since European colonists came to Maine, its economy has been one of extracting natural resources - the rocks, trees, and marine life. This class will dive into the history of Penobscot Bay's extractive economy, then turn students loose in the collections of Penobscot Marine Museum to find examples of objects, archives, and photographs related to those natural resources.

Students will learn to use the museum's online database so that they can research these topics further from the comfort of their own homes. We will be able to share and discuss what we have found during our final zoom class.
