Winners write history so ours ignores valiant Germans who risked their lives and families to destroy Nazism and help the Allies win. These Germans did not have to stand up and try to kill Hitler or make secret deals with Roosevelt, flee to France to work with the British or run through Berlin bombing raids to prisons. They believed Nazism was that morally repugnant, even if challenging it sent them to gallows or concentration camps. The hidden history of courageous Germans who fought a home front war illuminates a precedent for those troubled by our own fascist trending times.

Teacher: Sandy Garson

Sandy was a journalist who back in the early 80s stumbled on the secret story of Germans who challenged their Nazi government, especially women who had been banished from society much like Afghanistan today. She went to Germany, met and interviewed survivors, found some in the US and was putting together a book when she was told people will kill you if you talk about good Germans. So she moved to other writing pursuits until recent events reminded her to take this vital, unique information out of storage.
