Registration

This course offers a survey of architectural monuments and theories in Europe from the Industrial Age around 1750 to Post-Modern critiques of the late 20th century.

Major movements include Palladian, Greek and Gothic Revival in England, Iron and Steel Technology (Crystal Palace and Exposition Internationale), Art Nouveau in France, Belgium and Spain, Bauhaus and Secessionists in Austria and Germany, Congrès Internationale d'Architecture Moderne.

Major figures include Adam, Pugin, Morris, Ruskin, Labrouste, Paxton, Loos, Wagner, Gropius, Mies van der Rohe, Aalto, Le Corbusier, Stirling, Smythson.
