We invite everyone to join us for a brown bag lunch presentation about Family Harbor House on Wednesday, April 29 from 11:45 AM - 12:45 PM at United Methodist Church. Bring your lunch if you like; the talk is FREE and open to all. (Pre-registration is appreciated, but not required.)

Midcoast Maine Homeless Coalition (MMHC) opened Family Harbor House on January 3rd of this year. MMHC is a 501 (C) that created Family Harbor House (FHH), a transitional housing facility, to provide housing, nutrition and support for 3 to 4 families at a time.

FHH utilizes a part-time director, volunteers, and community partners to support the individual needs of each family. Volunteers are on site 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. MMHC coordinates with many local organizations to provide case management services. The program is housed at the United Methodist Church. Each family has their own private sleeping room and there are shared bathrooms, a common kitchen, a common dining room and an office at the site.

Midcoast Maine Homeless Coalition's mission is working to end the cycle of homelessness for individual families in Waldo County Maine through innovation and collaboration around affordable housing. MMHC provides transitional housing for families who are unhoused or at risk of becoming homeless and provides services with the goal of families moving into stable housing situations. MMHC also provides some financial support for families in Waldo County to help them maintain stable housing.

Presenter: David Beseda, Director at Family Harbor House

David has a Masters of Social Work and he has an extensive background working in the area of low income housing. He was the founding Executive Director of Community Housing of Maine. David was also a member of the leadership staff at Preble Street, and York County Shelter Programs supporting families experiencing homelessness. He has been a Guardian Ad Litem and an Adjunct Faculty at Southern Maine Community College and the University of New England.
