Belfast Senior College is celebrating our 25th anniversary this year. What were we all reading twenty-five years ago?

Read (or reread) four books that were on "best book" lists in 2001. Class members will read one book for each class and join in a discussion about the book. The class meets every other week. (The first assignment is the longest book so it is suggested you start on this one early.)

Session 1 - The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen

Session 2 - Uncle Tungsten by Oliver Sachs

Session 3 - Bel Canto by Ann Patchett

Session 4 - Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks

Please note:
This class meets EVERY OTHER WEEK.

Land Acknowledgement

We want to respectfully acknowledge and honor the Wabanaki Confederacy—specifically the Abenaki, Maliseet, Micmac, Passamaquoddy, and Penobscot Nations—who have stewarded this land throughout the generations. We recognize that we are on their ancestral, traditional, and unceded homelands. We affirm their inherent tribal sovereignty, pay respect to elders past and present, and commit to the ongoing work of truth-telling and decolonization in Maine and beyond.
