Exploring Maine Art History Through Drawing

The Farnsworth Art Museum has described Maine art "not as a distant outpost, but as a vital crossroads in the evolution ... of American art."

Sandi Cirillo, artist and teacher, will guide participants into this vibrant art scene, using the artists' preparatory drawings, discussions in class, and homework assignments. Some of the artists included are Lynn Drexler, Rockwell Kent, Neil Welliver, Rufus Porter, and Betsy Wyeth.

Please bring your own drawing materials to class. Be prepared to learn, enjoy, and draw your way into the artwork of some of Maine's most notable visual artists.

A field trip to the Farnsworth Art Museum is scheduled for October 14. Carpooling is encouraged. We'll discuss the trip details at our first class on October 7.

Instructor: Sandi Cirillo

Sandi Cirillo has taught various classes in art history, drawing and fiber at Senior College for over 12 years. She is a retired art educator who is currently a teaching artist with the state of Maine. She works with arts organizations, businesses, adult education programs and artist in resident programs at local schools. She has her studio in Searsport and you can see examples of her artwork on her website, especially-for-ewe.com. She is represented by Local Color gallery in Belfast.
