You needn't be a member of the Senior College though we invite you to become a member to support our efforts.

    Join us for a lively, one-session presentation that unlocks the stories behind the headlines, sparks fresh perspectives, and invites open discussion. Current events regarding the actions of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies are examined. Contemporary police actions will be addressed.

    No expertise needed - just bring your curiosity, comments, and questions.

    Speaker: Eli Silverman

    Eli B. Silverman, Ph. D, is Professor Emeritus at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and the Graduate Center of City University of New York. He has previously served with the U.S. Department of Justice and the National Academy of Public Administration in Washington D. C and was Visiting Exchange Professor at the Police Staff College in Bramshill, England. He has lectured, consulted with and trained numerous police agencies in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia and Australia. His areas of interest include police performance management, community policing, policy analysis, training, integrity control, policy analysis, compstat and crime mapping.

    Belfast Senior College's new Speaker Series will share talks from special guests presenting about their area of expertise. Eli Silverman is the first speaker in the series. This presentation is co-sponsored with the Belfast Free Library, and is FREE and open to the public. Registration is optional, but appreciated.

Important Dates

Memberships expire August 31st. Renew Sep 1st-Apr 30th for the current year. Renew May 1st-Aug31st for the coming academic year. Renew your membership today!

Fall classes start 4th week of September.

Registration for classes opens in early September for Fall semester and early January for Winter semester.

Course Proposal Deadlines

Winter 2026: DUE Nov 1, 2025 (Classes for Winter must be held remotely via Zoom. They start the 1st week in February.)
