Events

We offer a number of special events and programs in addition to our regular classes. Events include behind-the-scenes tours, one-time workshops, field trips, and our BSC Speaker Series.

Many events are free and open to the community; others have a fee. Certain events may only be opened up for non-members to attend after our members have had the opportunity to sign up first.

This special in-person, Members-only workshop will take place prior to the Winter semester and will be one of the first events held in our new space at The Belfast Center.

Facilitator Sharon Kosinski first created her CHEER campaign during the pandemic lockdown in March 2020, for family and friends to stay positive, connected and engaged. Although the CHEER mindset can be about any transition you are facing in life, this workshop will share ideas for keeping a healthy mindset living through the winter months. It's about reframing things mentally, and looking for beauty everyday! We will also be looking at ways we can better engage everyone, including those who are housebound or have less ability to get out during the winter.

Participants will discuss and share ideas, and are invited to create their own version of CHEER to take home for inspiration!

NOTE: The workshop is limited to 15 participants; please sign up right away to ensure your spot.

    Snow date is January 22.

    Facilitator:

Sharon Kosinski is a retired teacher living in Belfast since 2010. Recently a friend told her about a good book called How to Winter: Harness Your Mindset to Thrive on Cold, Dark, or Difficult Days by Kari Leibovitz, PhD. After reading this book Sharon realized it was similar to her CHEER campaign - and she decided to share it with others through this workshop.

Personal CHEER illustration created by Kathryn Mikkelsen, Sharon's daughter-in-law, 2020.
